Configuring the Java runtime environment


Complete the following steps to configure the Java runtime environment.

Note

BMC recommends that the server have at least: 64 bit operating system, 64 bit Java, and 8 GB of RAM.

To configure the Java runtime environment

  1. In the main console window, select Servers > Server Types > WebSphere Application Servers from the left navigation pane.
  2. In the Application servers window, click server1.
  3. In the Server infrastructure options on the right, select Java and Process Management > Process definition.
  4. In the Additional properties options on the right, select Java Virtual Machine.
  5. In Application servers, click server1 > Process definition > Java Virtual Machine window, and specify the following values:
    • Initial Heap Size: 1280
    • Maximum Heap Size: 2048
    • Generic JVM Arguments: -Xgcpolicy:optavgpause -Xnoclassgc
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Click server1.
  9. In the Server infrastructure options on the right, select Java and Process Management > Process definition.
  10. In the Additional properties options on the right, select Environment Entries.
  11. Click New.
  12. In Name, specify LDR_CNTRL and the value as MAXDATA=0x60000000.
  13. Click OK.
  14. Click Save.
