Using AIE to import data
If you have your data set up in BMC Atrium Configuration Management Database (BMC Atrium CMDB), you can use the BMC Atrium Integration Engine (AIE) Console in BMC Remedy Action Request System (AR System) to upload that information into BMC IT Business Management Suite via the staging tables.
Before you begin
To use the AIE Console, ensure that the configuration of the AIE integration is complete. The BMC IT Business Management Suite installation program automatically configures the AIE integration information during the installation process, but only if AIE is already installed on the computer where you are installing the BMC IT Business Management Suite core components. If you install AIE after installing BMC IT Business Management Suite, you can use the Maintenance Tool utility to configure the integration.
Before using AIE, you set up the company and people information in BMC Remedy AR System. For more information about performing the initial configuration in BMC Remedy AR System, see Getting started.
To use AIE to import data
- Use the ITBM Client Company form in BMC Remedy AR System to prepare the data to be imported to BMC IT Business Management Suite.
This form is automatically initiated every hour by default. BMC recommends that you run it manually if you plan to manually initiate the data upload into BMC IT Business Management Suite.
To manually initiate the ITBM Client Company form- Type the following URL into your browser:
http://<webServer:port>/arsys/forms/<arsystemServer>ITBM%3AClientCompany
where:
webServer is the fully qualified name of the BMC Remedy Mid Tier system, specified in the format server_name.company.com.
port is an optional port number, which is needed if the web server is not on the default port.
arsystemServer is the name of the BMC Remedy AR System Server that contains the application.
The ITBM AIE Client Company form is displayed. - To find the instanced root, click the Search option on top.
The ITBM Client Company form shows the instanced root selected and the form fields are populated. - To initiate the form, select Yes in the Escalation Trigger field and Click Save.
The ITBM Client Company form is initiated. The initiation time depends on the amount of data you have set up in the BMC Remedy AR System.
- Type the following URL into your browser:
- Ensure that the organizational unit data from BMC Remedy AR System is imported to BMC IT Business Management Suite. By default, the organizational unit belonging to the same top-level company are imported as soon as a user belonging to that top-level company logs into the BMC IT Business Management Suite. Also, an automated job imports all organizational unit data into BMC IT Business Management Suite every hour.
- Open the BMC Remedy AR System interface.
- Click the AIE Console option in the left navigation bar.
The BMC Atrium Integration Engine window is displayed. The window lists all BMC IT Business Management Suite related data exchange jobs. All BMC IT Business Management Suite related job names begin with ITBM. By default, the Active column for all jobs is set to No. - To make the data exchange jobs active, select all BMC IT Business Management Suite related data exchange jobs and click the Active/Inactive button.
The Active column for all BMC IT Business Management Suite related jobs is set to Yes. - To select the data exchange job to be run, click the ITBM IT Staff and Client from People option in the Data Exchange Console list.
- Click the Run Now button.
All BMC IT Business Management Suite related data exchange jobs are triggered by the ITBM IT Staff and Client from People job. The data from BMC Remedy AR System is loaded into the BMC IT Business Management Suite staging tables. - Log on to the BMC IT Business Management Suite and click the Admin option.
The BMC IT Business Management Admin Interface is displayed. - Click Import - Staging in the left navigation bar.
The Staging Table Import window is displayed. To start manual import, click the Import Now option.
All client and IT Staff people information is loaded into BMC IT Business Management Suite.
