Importing data

Staging import is the process of importing data from staging tables into the ITT tables in BMC IT Business Management Suite. The staging tables are a set of database tables that provide a temporary repository for data before it is loaded into the BMC IT Business Management Suite application database.

Before importing staging data from the staging tables into the ITT tables in BMC IT Business Management Suite, you must populate the staging tables in one of the following ways:

  • Using BMC Atrium Integration Engine (AIE) to add the data from the BMC Atrium Configuration Management Database (BMC Atrium CMDB) or BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite forms to BMC IT Business Management Suite via the staging tables.
  • You also can use any process such as SQL scripts or ETL tools to populate the staging tables.

After populating the staging tables, you must run the staging import to get the data into BMC IT Business Management Suite.

Warning

Importing data is best performed by an experienced database administrator. Proceed with care. As with any procedure of this type, back up your database before importing data. If you have any questions regarding this procedure after reading this section and your database documentation, consult your BMC Customer Support representative.
