Configuring alarms

As an administrator or a user with the telco config role, you can update the application configurations. The following out-of-the-box configurations are available for all companies.

  • Resolve incident on clearing alarms
    • If set to Primary Alarm, the incident resolves when the primary alarm is cleared.
    • If set to All Alarms, the incident resolves only when all associated alarms are cleared.
  • Resolve incident with active tasks
    • If set to True, incidents can be resolved even if they have active tasks.
    • If set to False, incidents with active tasks cannot be resolved.

Make sure that the Incident Configuration setting in BMC Helix ITSM is also set to True. For information, see ….<topic link>

  • Resolve parent and child incidents
    • Parent resolves children—When you resolve, close, or cancel the parent incident, the child incidents are automatically resolved.
    • Children resolve parent—When you resolve, close, or cancel all the child incidents, the parent incident is automatically resolved.
    • None—When a parent or child incident is resolved, closed, or canceled, no action is taken.

Important

Starting with BMC Helix Telco Extensions version 25.2, all application configuration settings are initially set to Global by default, and the Global company configuration is automatically created.

For users on version 25.1 or earlier, the system automatically migrates the Global company configuration. However, to migrate configurations for other companies, an administrator must manually run the migration process to move alarm configurations to the application configuration.

To migrate the alarm configuration to the application configuration

  1. In BMC Helix ITSM, open the Innovation Studio from the app launcher.
  2. Click the Network Service Operations libraries and search for the Migrate Netops Configurations process.
  3. Select the process and click Manage processes.
  4. Click Run.
