General information for service targets


In the Step 1 of 4 tab of the Service Target wizard, specify general information about your service target.

Fields on the Step 1 of 4 tab of the Service Target wizard

The following table describes fields in the Step 1 of 4 tab of the Service Target Wizard for both the Basic and Advanced modes. The Advanced mode includes all the fields from the Basic mode with additional options that you can use to define your service target.

Template

List of predefined templates. After you click Apply, the fields are automatically populated and the service target title is appended with an SLM ID number.

You can either use the service target template as provided, or modify the details and build a new template.

Title

Title of the service target; for example, Service target for critical incidents for BMC Helix Telco Extensions.

Important: Do not include any parentheses in the service target title. We also recommend that you avoid non alphanumeric characters such as !@#$%^&*().

Description

Description of the service target.

Applies To

Application, form, or data source that applies to the service target. The list in the Applies To field depends on your installed applications and configured data sources.

Important: For BMC Helix Telco Extensions, only Incident is supported.

Goal Type

Request-based service target goal. The list displays those goal types configured by your administrator and filtered by your selection in the Applies To field.

Terms and Conditions

Area to define the terms and conditions by using the Qualification Builder.

To define the terms and conditions

  1. Click Define.
  2. From the Qualification Builder, select an existing template or select the fields, operators, and keywords from the lists to define the qualification.
  3. Click Save to return to the Step 1 of 4 tab.
    The qualification is displayed in the Terms and Conditions field.
    Important: Every service target within a service target group must have unique terms and conditions.

Click Define to edit an existing CI qualification.

CI Terms and Conditions

Important: This field will only be displayed when you enable BMC Helix Telco Extensions and you select the value of Applies To as Incident and the Goal Type as Incident Resolution Time.

Area to define the CI terms and conditions by using the Qualification Builder. 

To create the CI qualification

  1. Click Create.
  2. From the CI Qualification Builder, select the fields, operators, and keywords from the lists to define the qualification.
  3. Click Save to return to the Step 1 of 4 tab.
    The qualification name is displayed in the CI Terms and Conditions field and the qualification is displayed in the CI Qualification field.
    Important: Every service target within a service target group must have unique terms and conditions.

To view and edit an existing CI qualification entry

  1. From the CI Terms and Conditions list, select an existing CI qualification.
  2. From the CI Qualification Builder, click View to edit the CI qualification.
  3. Click Save to return to the Step 1 of 4 tab. 

To view, modify, and delete multiple existing CI qualifications

  1. Click Manage.
  2. From the existing list of CI terms and conditions, select the required entry.
  3. From the CI Qualification Builder, click Delete to delete the CI terms and conditions or edit the CI qualification.
  4. Click Save to return to the Step 1 of 4 tab.

Qualification created by using the CI Terms and Conditions.

Agreement Type

Type of agreement.

Advanced

Status

Status for the service target:

  • Enabled—The service target is active.
  • Disabled—The service target is inactive.
  • Invalid—The service target is inactive and no longer in operation.

The default value for a new service target is Enabled.

Effective From

Date and time from which the service target is effective.

Save Service Target as Template

Important: This option is not supported for BMC Helix Telco Extensions.
