Viewing alternatives for end-of-life BIRT reports

With BIRT reports reaching end of life, administrators can use alternative, modern tools in BMC Helix ITSM to view analytics for various artifacts and print the reports. Reports are now accessible via BMC Helix Dashboards, PWA screens, or consoles. This ensures continued access to critical data with enhanced visualization, export, and printing capabilities.

When you view the BIRT reports, you can view a message in the application informing you about the end of life of the reports. Use the table provided in this topic to understand the alternative ways to view the reports.

Scenario
 Jordan, an IT administrator at Apex Global, is responsible for managing and auditing IT assets, such as laptops, servers, and networking equipment used across different departments.

Previously, Jordan used BIRT (Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools) integrated into the Mid Tier interface of their ITSM platform to generate and print reports on current asset usage. However, BIRT has now reached its end of life, and the functionality is no longer supported.

Jordan logs into the Mid Tier interface and navigates to the Asset Management section, and clicks the Print Report button to generate a report of all currently assigned assets. Instead of the report, he sees this message:

As BIRT reaches its End of Life, this report is unavailable in Mid Tier. This report can be accessed/created on alternatives: Helix Dashboards, Progressive Views Or Shared Consoles. For detailed matrix kindly follow this link.

 Jordan clicks the link and is redirected to a table that lists the alternative to view the report for each form. For the AST:AssetSoftware form, the recommended alternative is BMC Helix Dashboards.

Jordan logs into BMC Helix Dashboards, and navigates to the predefined Asset Report dashboard, or creates a custom one using available widgets and filters. He views the report, confirms the data is accurate, and uses the export/print feature to generate a PDF for his records.
