Scheduling regular maintenance on a network printer
This use case describes how to schedule regular maintenance on a network printer.
Scenario
Calbro Services has a high-speed, high-volume network printer on each floor of its offices. These printers require maintenance every six months. The configuration administrator, Allen Allbrook, sets up a maintenance schedule for each of these printers. Allen selects a "network printer maintenance" change template, so that the appropriate change request is started when maintenance is scheduled. This is a pre-approved change, so no approval is required, and a technician performs the scheduled work.
Workflow
The following table describes the typical actions that are taken to schedule regular maintenance on a network printer.
Console | User | Action | Reference |
---|---|---|---|
Asset Management console | Configuration administrator | Create a maintenance schedule by using the change template. | |
Change Management console | Technician |
| |
Asset Management console | Technician | Search for the network printer CI and change the status of the request to Completed. |
Result
The maintenance request is scheduled and the technician completes the request and updates the status of the request.
Benefit
The process starting from request creation to request completion is managed smoothly and with minimal manual intervention.
