Creating an ad hoc report

You can create an ad hoc report by using the Web Intelligence application.

To create reports

  1. The macro unmigrated-inline-wiki-markup from Confluence is no longer available.

The classes and objects of the universe are displayed in the Universe outline pane.
  2. Expand the appropriate class and subclass folders, and double-click the object that you want to use in your report.
The selected object appears in the Result Objects panel. Repeat this step until you have added all the objects and conditions that you want to use in your report. You can also select objects from different class folders.

    Notes

    • BMC Analytics for BSM does not support queries that use objects from multiple application folders. For example, the product does not support a query that contains objects from the Asset Management folder and the Incident Management folder. To generate a report that includes Incidents that relate to Assets, select the Asset ID object, navigate to Asset Management > Asset Information > Asset Relationships, and then use the objects contained within the Incidents Related to Assets subfolder.
    • You can specify one or more query filters (conditions) to improve the performance of your reports.

    2. (optional) Click Advanced and specify additional document options.
    3. Select a target folder from the folder list.
    4. Click OK.
      The report is saved.
  7. Record information about the new report. For guidelines and information, see Report customizations.

Tip

While creating custom reports and adding links to other report, use document CUID and not the SI ID. The documents or links created using SI ID are broken post migration to a different environment. If the links are created using document CUID, they retained after migration from one environment to another.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
