Customizations

Because the BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite applications are designed to be customized, the BMC Analytics for BSM reports and universe can also be customized. However, if you update the preconfigured reports and default universe, your updates are overwritten during an upgrade.

Recommendation

To ensure that you do not lose your customizations, perform the following actions:

  • Create a copy of each report that you want to modify and then modify that report.
  • Create a linked universe and apply all of your customizations to the linked universe. Using the linked universe feature, you create a new universe, link the new universe to the installed, default universe, apply your customizations to the linked universe, then overwrite the master universe during an upgrade.
