Backing up the universe and reports using the Lifecycle Management Tool
Use the steps in this topic to create a backup of the universe and reports in an SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence 4.0 environment. This topic does not apply to SAP BusinessObjects XI R3.1.
- Log on to the SAP BusinessObjects Central Management Console.
- In the Manage section, click Promotion Management.
- Click New Job.
- In the New Job tab, provide a unique job name in the Name field.
- In the Save Job In field, ensure that the value is Promotion Jobs.
Click Browse to select the Promotion Jobs folder if necessary. - In the Source field, click the down arrow to select Login to New CMS.
- In the Login to System dialog box, provide the credentials and click Login.
- In the Destination field, click the down arrow to select Output to LCMBIAR file.
- Click Create.
- In the Add objects from the system dialog box, select the folder that you want (BMC Analytics for BSM, for example) and click Add.
- Scroll down in the navigation pane and click Universes, select the check box for the universe that you want (ITSM, for example) and click Add.
- In the navigation pane, click Connections, select the check box for the ITSM universe, and then click Add & Close.
The list of items that you selected appear in the tab named for the job that you created. - Use the navigation pane to verify that all the folders, connection, and universe that you selected are listed.
- Click Promote, and in the Promote dialog box, click Save and Export.
- When you are prompted to save the file, provide the location and file name and save the LCMBIAR file.
To restore the universe and folders
- Log on to the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform Central Management Console.
- Click Promotion Management.
The Lifecycle Management Console opens. - Click Import > Import File.
- Provide the path where the LCMBIAR file exists, and click OK.
- Save the job under Promotion Jobs.
- Provide the destination system, and click Create.
Click Promote, save the job, and click Promote.
A promotion job is created. You can monitor and view the job status in Promotion Management. When the job completes successfully, the status is displayed as Success.
