P07 - Aging of Open Problems


This report shows, for a particular company, the average age of a problem that is currently open by status and by impact. The report shows a three-dimensional column chart that displays the open problems by status, impact, and average age. The table below the chart contains the same data in tabular format.

Usage

This report can be used by operational managers and executives to keep track of whether problems are being handled in a timely manner. Managers can use this report to identify those problems that need their attention. This report can also be used to measure how quickly problems are being addressed.

Report assumptions

  • The problems with problem reported date within the reporting period are selected.
  • A problem is deemed open if its status value is not completed, rejected, closed, or canceled.
  • Age of a problem is the difference of days between problem reported on date and current date.
  • The average age of a problem is the sum of age of problems divided by the number of problems.
  • The problems are broken out by status and impact.
