Stopping and starting services

This topic contains information about starting and stopping services installed by SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence and by BMC Analytics for Business Service Management (BMC Analyltics for BSM).

Starting and stopping services installed by SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence

SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence installs a variety of services depending upon the features that you selected during the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence installation.

If you have installed the product by using a standard installation and MySQL for the CMS database, the following services need to be stopped and restarted by using the Central Configuration Management (CCM) tool for starting and stopping services:

  • BOE120Tomcat - Apache Tomcat 5.5.20 Tomcat Application Server
  • BOE120MySQL - MySQL AB 6.0 MySQL Central Management System Repository database
  • BOE120SIA<clustername> - Business Objects Enterprise Server Intelligence Agent - Manages BusinessObjects Enterprise Servers

For the complete list of services installed by SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence, refer to the SAP-BusinessObjects-Business-Intelligence-documentation.

Starting and stopping services installed by BMC Analytics for BSM

If you use BMC Analytics for BSM with BMC Atrium Single Sign-On installation, the BSM Analytics Tomcat service is created.

If you are having trouble launching the BI launch pad tool to view your reports, try restarting the BSM Analytics Tomcat service.

  • For a Microsoft Windows installation, use the Services dialog box to stop and restart the service.
  • For a UNIX or Linux installation, use the following commands to stop and restart the service:
    • To stop the service, use bin/shutdown.
    • To start the service, use bin/startup.
Warning

Note

If you are using BMC Atrium Single Sign-On, use the following URL to launch the BI launch pad: http://<fullyQualifiedBusinessObjectsHostName>:<port>/logon/logon.do. An attempt to launch the BI launch pad by using the Start > Programs menu fails.
