Product overview

The BMC Analytics for BSM product provides out-of-the-box interactive reporting and analysis that enables technical and non-technical users to quickly examine data for trends and details associated with how IT is supporting business services and goals. BMC Analytics for BSM puts critical business intelligence at your fingertips to help you make more informed and accurate decisions. It runs on industry-leading SAP BusinessObjects technology and enables you to perform the following tasks:

  • View and create industry best practice (for example, ITIL and COBIT) reports for data from BMC Remedy IT Service Management and BMC Atrium CMDB.
  • Create ad hoc reports in seconds through interactive point-and-click analysis
  • Easily share web-based reports with IT and business stakeholders

BMC Analytics for BSM provides a set of analysis tools and reporting features that enable you to analyze the data from the following applications:

  • BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite (BMC Remedy ITSM), which includes the following applications:
    • BMC Service Desk (including Incident Management and Problem Management)
    • BMC Asset Management
    • BMC Change Management
    • BMC Knowledge Management
    • BMC Service Request Management
    • BMC Service Level Management
  • BMC Atrium Configuration Management Database (BMC Atrium CMDB)

Note

The SAP BusinessObjects BI platform used by BMC Analytics for BSM provides comprehensive business intelligence functionality. This reporting platform is capable of a multiple-server implementation with suitable deployment planning and sizing. Installing the reporting platform on a single server is possible, but it might not suit a production implementation in a large organization and might produce unacceptable results, including failure to produce reports on time.

Effective deployment planning and sizing of the reporting platform in a production environment requires SAP BusinessObjects BI platform knowledge and training. BMC assumes that you have received the education and training that is required to operate this platform beyond a simple test implementation.
