Configuring entitlements


As an administrator, the first step to start implementing the onboarding solution is to configure entitlements for the Onboarding Manager and the external New Hire Portal. You must configure the entitlements inBMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog.

You must assign the Onboarding Manager role to specific users who need to access the Onboarding Portal. These users will also need access to the Onboarding request catalog service to raise requests if required.

New hires who will access the external New Hire Portal need entitlement to raise HR requests by using the Ask HR catalog service.


Process for setting up the onboarding solution

Before you begin

Make sure that the following catalog items are published:

  • Onboarding Request
  • Ask HR

To configure entitlement for the Onboarding Manager

Only hiring and recruitment managers who will raise onboarding requests are entitled to the Onboarding request catalog service item. Give access to only those managers who will raise the onboarding requests.

  1. As a catalog administrator, log in to BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog.
  2. Click Services > Entitlement > New Virtual Market Places.
  3. Specify a name for the virtual market place, for example, Onboarding Manager.
  4. Select Business Workflows Sub Catalog from the Catalog list, and click Create.
  5. On the Edit Virtual Marketplace page, click Add for Catalog.
  6. From the Service Catalog list, select Onboarding request, click Add.

  7. Click Close.

To add entitlement for the external New Hire Portal

  1. As a catalog administrator, log in to BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog.
  2. Click Services > Entitlement > New Virtual Market Places.
  3. Specify a name for the virtual market place, for example, New Hire External Users.
  4. Select Business Workflows Sub Catalog from the Catalog list, and click Create.
  5. On the Edit Virtual Marketplace page, click Add for Catalog.
  6. From the Service Catalog list, select Ask HR, click Add.

  7. Click Close.
  8. Click People > People Groups.
  9. Create a new group, such as New Hire, and save it.
  10. On the Group Options page, click Add for Attributes.
  11. From the Other Fields list, expand Client Type, and select New Hire.

  12. Click Save and Close.
