Configuring Flowsets
Flowset functions
Functions are the typical developmental stages of an onboarding request. The following image shows how the functions in HR Service Management work for an onboarding request:
As a case business analyst, you can modify the flow in the Flowset by using these functions.

To configure a Flowset and map a process to the flowset
By default, the Onboarding Flowset is configured and activated for onboarding requests. You can add processes to this existing Flowset, or create a new Flowset and then add processes to it.
- Log in to BMC Helix Digital Workplace Advanced as a Hiring Manager.
- Click Onboarding Portal in top navigation bar.
- Click
Settings.
- Expand Content Management, and select Manage Content.
- Search for the Onboarding Request use case, and select it.
- From the menu items, click
.
- On the Human Resource settings page, expand Onboarding, and click Flowsets configuration.
- (Optional) To create a new Flowset, click + Flowset configuration, and complete the following steps:
- Select the Company for which you want to define the Flowset.
- Specify a name and description for the Flowset.
- Select the status for the Flowset.
- Click Save.
- Open the default Onboarding Flowset, or the new Flowset that you created.
- On the Edit Flowset configuration page, click + Process mapping.
- On the Create Process Mapping page, select the Function.
- Select the Process for the function that you selected by selecting from all process or Human Resource Service Management processes.
In Process Execution Type, select one of the following options:
- Exclusive—If you want to run only the Flowset process and not the default process.
For example, you want to run the IT assets selection process that you have created for your line of business and not the default IT assets selection process.
- Additive—If you want to run the default process and the Flowset process that you've configured.
The Flowset process that you configured runs before the default process. If the Flowset process triggers any other processes within its configuration, these processes are executed first and then the execution of the default process begins.
For example, you have defined a data access permission process for the Flowset. Select this option to run the default data access permission process as well as the Flowset related data access permission process. The Flowset related process is run before the default process.
Important: For the Initialization function, the Process execution type is set to Exclusive.
- Exclusive—If you want to run only the Flowset process and not the default process.
- Select one of the following options for Status:
- Draft—The process is not ready to use.
- Active—The process is ready to use.
- Inactive—The process is deprecated and not in use.
- Click Save.
- Map the processes for all functions for the Flowset.
