Configuring Units


Units represent the measurement standard used to quantify any record. In Financial Management, units help define how values are calculated and recorded, ensuring consistency in financial reporting. Units can be based on time, quantity, or other relevant metrics, depending on the nature of the record.

Common units include Day, Hour, Item and more. 

The Manage Units console contains the list of Units configured in BMC Helix Portfolio Management and provides functionality to add, remove or modify the Units. This console is accessible to the user with the Financial Master role. 

To access the Manage Units console

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Portfolio Management and click Settings 1751359345887-591.png.
  2. Select Financial Management.  
  3. Navigate to Units. The console will have the list of Units, if created already. 

To create a Unit

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Portfolio Management and click Settings 1751359345887-591.png.
  2. Select Financial Management > Units.
  3. To add a new unit, click New, and provide the following details:

UnitThe name of the measurement standard used for financial transactions (for example, Day, Hour, Item).
IdentifierA unique code or symbol assigned to the unit for easy reference and consistency in financial records.

4. Click Save.

To edit a Unit

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Portfolio Management and click Settings 1751359345887-591.png.
  2. Select Financial Management > Units.
  3. Click on the unit's name or select the row and click Edit. This will show you the details you provided while creating the Unit, along with its Status as Active.
  4. Make the required changes and click Save

To delete a Unit

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Portfolio Management and click Settings 1751359345887-591.png.
  2. Select Financial Management > Units.
  3. Select the Unit and click Delete.  

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
