Managing My Competencies


In the BMC Helix Portfolio Management application, My Competencies or Competency Management is a section dedicated to individual users to update and manage their competencies and keep track of their assessment history. From a user's perspective, the competencies refer to the qualifications, trainings and examination certificates they have. This information collectively forms an active data that supports resource planning.   

Note:- The terminology used in the Competency Management section — Qualifications, Trainings, and Certificates — aligns with competencies, Skills, Courses, and Certificates, respectively. 

Competency Management Interface

The My Competencies/Competency Management section can be accessed only by the individual users or in other words the Resource Contributors.

To access the console, log in to the Portfolio Management application and click My Profile > My Competencies.

On top of the user interface, we have a section with details like the job profile of the currently logged-in user, date of last assessment, self-assessment status and buttons to perform specific actions -

  • Ready to review -  To submit self-assessment for review
  • Show Comments - To display any comments on the competencies, if available 
  • Print - To redirect you to the Personal Development Card under BMC Helix Dashboard which can be printed 

Under the Competency Management section, various consoles are available to add and manage qualifications, trainings, and certificates. Also, there is a console to monitor and track assessment history. 

This documentation section consists of the following pages, each dedicated to giving insight into how users can manage their Qualifications, Trainings, Examination Certificates and Assessment History consoles.
