Creating requirements from tasks


A requirement can be created in a portfolio from:

  • an idea when the idea is accepted.
  • copying demand requirements in the portfolio when the demand is assessed.
  • an open task.

The Project manager of the project, Portfolio Manager of the parent portfolio, Project Masters, Portfolio Masters, and Project Managers with additional write access to the project, can create new requirements in the portfolio from opened tasks.

Only one requirement can be created from one task.

It is not allowed to create requirements from subtasks.

To create a new requirement for submitting a task

  1.  Create a new task by following the steps under Creating-tasks-in-backlogCreating-tasks-in-a-sprint or Creating-tasks-in-a-phase, and set the Create Requirement field to Yes
  2. Create a new requirement in the In Project status within the parent portfolio of the project, using information from the task, and relate it to the new task. 

To create a new requirement from viewing a task

  1. Log in to the Portfolio Management application.
  2. Open the task from you want to create the requirement, in different ways:
    1. Navigate to Workspace > Projects and open a project on the Projects workspace by clicking the required project ID.
      • If the task is related to a sprint or phase, go to the Sprints or Phases tab and click the required sprint ID or phase ID. On the sprint or phase page, go to the Tasks tab and click the required task ID.
      • Otherwise, go to the Tasks in the Backlog tab or Global Tasks tab, and click the required task ID.
    2. Navigate to Workspace > Project Tasks and open the task on the Project Tasks workspace by clicking the required task ID.
  3. On the task header page, click Create RequirementA confirmation dialogue box will appear.
  4. Click Yes.

A new requirement is created in the In Project status within the portfolio of the project of the task, using information from the task, and related to the task

To create new requirements from tasks viewing a project

  1. Log in to the Portfolio Management application.
  2. Open a project, in different ways:
    • Navigate to Workspace > Projects and click the required project ID.
    • Navigate to Portfolios, click the portfolio ID of the project, go to the Projects tab on the portfolio details page and click the required project ID.
  3. On the project details page, go to the Tasks in Sprints tab if Agile project or Tasks in Phases tab if Phased project, Tasks in Backlog tab, or Global Tasks tab.
  4. Select the tasks that you want to create requirements from the list, and click Create Requirements. A confirmation dialogue box will appear.
  5. Click Yes.

A new requirement is created in the In Project status within the portfolio of the project for each selected task, using information from the task, and related to the task. 

To create new requirements from tasks viewing a sprint

  1. Log in to the Portfolio Management application.
  2. Navigate to Workspace > Projects.
  3. To open an Agile project on the Projects workspace, click the required project ID.
  4. On the project details page, go to the Sprints tab and click the required sprint ID.
  5. On the sprint details page, go to the Tasks tab.
  6. Select the tasks that you want to create requirements from the list, and click Create Requirements. A confirmation dialogue box will appear.
  7. Click Yes

To create new requirements from tasks viewing a phase task

  1. Log in to the Portfolio Management application. 
  2. Navigate to Workspace > Projects.
  3. To open a Phased project on the Projects workspace, click the required project ID.
  4. On the project details page, go to the Phases tab and click the required phase ID.
  5. On the phase details page, go to the Tasks tab.
  6. Select the tasks that you want to create requirements from the list, and click Create Requirements. A confirmation dialogue box will appear.
  7. Click Yes.

A new requirement is created in the In Project status within the portfolio of the project for each selected task, using information from the task, and related to the task. 


 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
