Creating requirements


This topic guides you on how to create new requirements directly in a portfolio or program. For a quick introduction and life cycle of Requirement Management, you can refer to Requirement-Management-Overview.

These operations can be performed by the Portfolio/Program Manager of the portfolio/program and Portfolio Masters.

To create a new requirement from the portfolio/program

  1. Log in to the Portfolio Management application.
  2. Navigate to the Portfolio/Program console.
  3. To open a portfolio/program, click the required portfolio/program ID.
  4. On the portfolio/program details page, go to the Requirements tab and click +Requirement.
  5. On the create requirement blade page, enter the values for the following fields: 

    Field

    Description

    Summary 

    Enter a Summary of the Requirement which can describe the purpose behind a Requirement.

    Description

    Describe the Requirement in more detail.

    This is a special type of field which supports basic formatting, images, tables, and hyperlink. 

    New Business Impact 

    High, Medium, Low, n/a (Not Applicable)

    Customer Impact

    High, Medium, Low, n/a (Not Applicable)

    Type 

    Values are Functional, Issue, Bug.

    Functional: Functional change.

    Issue: a change is requested from an issue.

    Bug: a change that gets raised by a customer which turns into a requirement.

    Priority

    Priority of Requirement.

    Portfolio/Program

    The portfolio/program to which the requirement belongs. You cannot modify this value. 

    Required Skill

    Architect, Developer, Manager, Tester, etc.

    It is possible to configure the values, see Configuring-Resource-Management.

    Estimated Effort (h)

    Tentative efforts, hours, that are required for completion of the requirement.

    Attachments

    Can associate attachments, and videos for a better understanding of the requirement.

    Benefits

    Some advantages of implementing the Requirement can be added.

    This is a special type of field which supports basic formatting, images, tables, and hyperlink.

    Problem Solved

    Some problems that will be solved from this requirement can be added.

    This is a special type of field which supports basic formatting, images, tables, and hyperlink.

  6. Click Save. The new requirement is created in New status.
