Changing Program Statuses


The Program Manager/Assignee of the program, Portfolio Manager of the parent portfolio and Portfolio Masters can move the program to different statuses throughout its lifecycle.

To change a program status

  1. Log in to the Portfolio Management application
  2. Navigate to Workspace > Program.
  3. To open a program on the Program workspace, click the required program ID.
  4. On the program details page, click Edit.
  5. Select the required value in the Status field. The following table lists the required status change based on actions you can perform on a portfolio:

    Change to status

    Ramp Up

    The program manager reviews the data on associated requirements, demands, and ideas which gave a clear picture of projects to be initiated and worked to begin to achieve the organization's goal.

    The program manager checks the overall Budget, Cost and Goal which is getting achieved while fulfilling this. 

    Project managers start to plan and schedule the projects of the program, creating sprints and tasks.

    Active

    After reviewing and understanding the needs of the program, the accessor may shift the Program to "On Hold" status. 

    On Hold 

    After reviewing and understanding the needs of the program, the accessor may shift the Program to "Cancelled" status. 

    Cancelled 

    Active

    In case, the Program Manager wants to review the different aspects of the program again. 

    Ramp Up

    The program manager may decide to update the status of the program to a 'Ramp Down' state for any of the following reasons:

    • Circumstances Changes
    • Business Justification
    • Financial Hold
    • Customer Hold

    Also if the priority is lowered or when the projects are almost into complete status. 

    Ramp Down

    OR

    On Hold 

    After reviewing different aspects of the program, the accessor may shift the Program to "Cancelled" status. 

    Cancelled 

    Projects, demands, Ideas and requirement life cycle are in a completed state and all corresponding sprints, phases and tasks are completed. There is no pending activity which needs attention.

    End of Life

    On Hold


    In case, the Program Manager wants to review different aspects of the program again. 

    Ramp Up

    When the reason for keeping the program on hold get resolved.

    Active

    If the reasons for keeping the program on hold are not getting solved and the Program Manager wanted to cancel it.

    Cancelled

    Projects, demands, Ideas and requirement life cycle are in a completed state and all corresponding sprints, phases and tasks are completed. There is no pending activity which needs attention. 

    End of Life

    Ramp Down

    In case, the Program Manager wants to review different aspects of the program again. 

    Ramp Up

    When the reason for keeping the program on Ramp Down status get resolved.

    Active

    If the reasons for keeping the program on Ramp Down status are not getting solved and the Program Manager wanted to cancel it.

    Cancelled

    Projects, demands, Ideas and requirement life cycle are in a completed state and all corresponding sprints, phases and tasks are completed. There is no pending activity which needs attention. 

    End of Life

    Cancelled

    Since "Cancelled" is an end status, you can't change the status to anything else.

    End of Life

    Since "End of Life" is an end status, you can't change the status to anything else.

    NA

  6. Click Save.
