Creating and editing Pre-Configured Labels
This topic guides you on how to create a Pre-Configured Label or edit/delete the existing ones. For a quick introduction to labels, you can refer to the Labels Overview.
A Pre-Configured Label can be created only on the application level and is made available for all the records present in the application.
Being the admin-level tasks, the below operations can be performed by the application admin only.
To create a Pre-Configured Label
- Log in to the Portfolio Management Application
- Click the Setting icon on the Navigation Bar.
- Navigate to General > Pre-configured Labels.
Click on the +New button and enter the values for the following fields:
Field Labels
Description
Identifier
The identifier is a global name we provide to a label irrespective of the locale. Every label has a unique identifier and is provided in English.
Label Name
Label name is a title, say, any name defining the topic, priority, and development task.
(Note – Click on Localize and feed the Label Name in the Defalt locale. This feature is provided to support multiple languages.)
Label Description
Label description is a brief description of the Label.
(Note – Click on Localize and feed your Description in the Default locale. This feature is provided to support multiple languages.)
Color (Hex Code)
The Hex Code of the color you want to see this label in.
- Click Save. This will pop another window, asking you to select Type.
This Type field has the list of modules that the Portfolio Management application contains, this includes Portfolio, Program, Project, Sprint, Phase, Project Task, Idea, Demand, and Requirement. - Select one or multiple modules from the list.
This means, the created Label can only be applied to the selected modules. Once done, the new label gets listed on the Manage Pre-Configured Labels page.
As we now know how to create a Pre-Configured Label, let’s try to understand the Edit and Delete process of the Pre-Configured Label.
On the Manage Pre-Configured Labels view, you will see the title at the top and a grid having the list of Pre-Configured Labels, created so far. The grid has a Task Bar on the top having features like - Refresh/Reload, Filter, Search Grid, and Visible Columns.
The Edit and Delete options come up on the same Task Bar as soon as you select a label from the checkbox. If you select more than one label, the edit option will be disabled, and the deletion task can only be done.
To edit a Pre-Configured Label
- Log in to the Portfolio Management Application
- Click the Setting icon on the Navigation Bar.
- Navigate to General > Pre-configured Labels.
- Select the Pre-Configured label that you want to edit by clicking on the checkbox adjacent to every label.
- Click on the Edit button appeared on the Task Bar.
- Edit the fields as per needed and click Save.
Another way to get the Edit window is to click the header of the Label that you want to edit.
To delete Pre-Configured Label
- Log in to the Portfolio Management Application
- Click the Setting icon on the Navigation Bar.
- Navigate to General > Pre-configured Labels.
- Select one or more Pre-Configured labels, by clicking on the checkbox adjacent to every label.
- Click on the Delete button appeared on the Task Bar.
- A dialogue box will come up asking for a confirmation. Click Yes to continue the deletion.
