Adding the Idea page to BMC Helix Digital Workplace


This section contains the steps to add the "Idea" page for BMC Helix Digital Workplace.

Before you begin

Make sure you have BMC Helix Digital Workplace Admin access. 

Steps to be followed in BMC Helix Innovation Studio

  1. Log in to the BMC Helix Innovation Studio.
  2. Select Administration > Settings > Integrations > IFrame Security.
  3. Under the Trusted web applications section, click the search field, Filter or add URLs
  4. Add BMC Helix Digital Workplace URL, and click Add to list. Similarly, add BMC Helix Digital Catalog and BMC Helix Innovation Studio URLs.

To add the Idea page to BMC Helix Digital Workplace

To set up the "Idea" page in DWP you need to be a DWP admin user. 

  1. Log in to the BMC Helix Digital Workplace Admin environment with the URL –  https://<CUSTOMER URL>/dwp/admin/
  2. Click Configuration.

  3. Click on Application Features and check if BMC Helix Platform is enabled on the main content area. If BMC Helix Innovation Studio is not installed, then follow the below BMC page for configuration –  Enabling-integration-with-BMC-Helix-Digital-Workplace-Advanced-and-BMC-Helix-Business-Workflows.

  4. Go to BMC Helix Platform on the sidebar, and click Add Page under Create custom page.

  5. Provide the required parameters:Page Name – Idea

    URL to BMC Helix Innovation Studio – https://<CUSTOMER-URL/helix/index.html#/com.fusiongbs.agility-suite/iview/com.fusiongbs.agility:IdeaDWPConsole

    Make sure the URL has “i” added (Highlighted in bold). 

    Page locale – Locale as per your preference

  6. Click Save. A success message will pop up.  
  7. Now access the DWP console to validate if the idea page has been created successfully.  
    You can now see the Idea page on the navigation bar of the Digital Workplace end-user portal.

The Create New Idea button on top of the screen will help users to create new ideas. For more information, see Managing-Ideas

Warning

Important

At times, despite adhering to the steps outlined above, the Idea page does not appear on the navigation bar of the Digital Workplace end-user portal. In such a case, proceed with the below instructions. 

  1. Log in to the Digital Workplace Admin environment with the URL – https://<CUSTOMER URL>/dwp/admin/
  2. Click on Configuration.
  3. Click on Navigation Manager and check if the Idea page is enabled (the check box is selected). Clearing the check box might restrict the created pages from appearing on the navigation bar of the Digital Workplace end-user portal.
  4. Enable the Idea page by clicking on the checkbox. MicrosoftTeams-image (11) - Copy.png
  5. Click Save.
    This will now make the Idea page visible on the navigation bar of the Digital Workplace end-user portal.

Recommendation

Once the Idea page details get saved under Create custom page, go to Navigation Manager and check if the created Idea page is enabled (the checkbox is selected). If not, enable the page by selecting the checkbox, and save the change.
