Configuring skill area


Manage Skill Areas console shows the skill areas which may be required for a resource group. For example, the resource group for Services may require a skill area in Service Management.

This console is accessible by the Resource Master and the Agility Admin users.

To access to this console, login to the Portfolio Management application, click Settings and go to Resource Management > Skill Area.

To create a Skill Area

  1. Login to the Portfolio Management application and click Settings Gear.PNG.
  2. Go to Resource Management > Skill Area.
  3. Click on the 'add.png New' button to add a new Skill Area.

    Resource Group

    Select one of the Resource Groups from the dropdown. The dropdown shows all the active resource groups.

    Add the name of the Skill Area

    Status

    The status field has two options namely, Active and Inactive. The default status after the creation of a skill area is "Active". To remove the usage of an already configured skill area, change the status to "Inactive". This will disallow the creation of new skills for that skill area.


To modify a Skill Area

  1. Login to the Portfolio Management application and click Settings Gear.PNG.
  2. Go to Resource Management > Skill Area.
  3. Click on the display id of the skill area or select the row and click on the Edit (edit-icon-3.pngbutton. 
  4. Apply the changes and click Save.

To delete a Skill Area

  1. Login to the Portfolio Management application and click Settings Gear.PNG.
  2. Go to Resource Management > Skill Area.
  3. Select the Skill Area to delete and click on the Delete (delete.pngbutton. 

Note that only those skill area records can be deleted that are not already used in skills.
