Managing competencies under Foundation Data console


This topic guides you on how users can add, update and remove competencies of the resources within the Foundation Data console. 

These operations can be performed by Resource Managers and Resource Masters. However, Resource Managers can manage the competencies for only those resources who are members of their assigned resource groups. 

To add a new Qualification for another user

1. Log in to the Portfolio Management application and navigate to Resource > Foundation Data.

2. Select the resource group, select the member/resource and click Show details

3. Go to the Qualifications tab and click add.pngQualification to create a new qualification.

4. On the Add Qualification blade, fill in the below details: 

Field

Description

Skill

Select a skill from the dropdown. 

Level

Select the level of expertise you have in the above selected skill. 

Years of Experience 

Mention the years of experience you have with the above selected skill. 

No. of Projects

Mention the number of projects you have done using the above selected skill. 

Status

Select the status of the qualification.

Target Date

Mention the date by which you are planning to obtain the qualification. This field is only relevant when the status is Planned.

Comment

Provide comment to the qualification record.  

4. Click Save. 

Warning

Important

  • You cannot add a qualification with the same name and level. 
  • You cannot add a qualification with the same name and a lower level. 
  • You need to confirm to add a qualification with the same skill name and higher level.

To add a new Training for another user

1. Log in to the Portfolio Management application and go to Resources > Foundation Data.

2. Select the resource group, select the member/resource and click Show details

3. Go to the Trainings tab and click add.pngTraining to create a new training.

4. On the Add Training blade, fill in the below details:

Description

Course

Select a course from the dropdown. 

Training Date 

Mention the date of the training. 

Valid Until

Mention the end date of the validity of the training. 

Status 

Select the status of the training. 

Cost 

Put the cost of training. 

Comment

Provide comment to the training record.  

4. Click Save.

To add a new Examination Certificate for another user

1. Log in to the Portfolio Management application and go to Resource > Foundation Data.

2. Select the resource group, then select the member/resource and click Show details

3. Go to the Examination Certificates tab and click add.pngEx. Certificates to create a new examination certificate.

4. On the Add Examination Certificate blade, fill in the below details:

Certificate

Select a certificate from the dropdown. 

Status

Select the status of the certificate

Cost 

Put the cost of examination certificate

Date of Exam

Mention the date on which the exam was conducted for the mentioned certificate

Expiration Date 

Mention the end date of the validity of the examination certificate

Comment

Provide comment to the examination certificate record.  

4. Click Save.

To edit/update a competency for another resource

1. Log in to the Portfolio Management application and go to Resource > Foundation Data.

2. Select the resource group, then select the member/resource and click Show details

3. Navigate to the required competency tab (Qualifications, Trainings or Examination Certificates) and click on the record you want to edit. 

4. On the Edit page, apply the changes. 

5. Click Save.

To remove a competency for another resource

1. Log in to the Portfolio Management application and go to Resources > Foundation Data.

2. Select the resource group, then select the member/resource and click Show details

3. Navigate to the required competency tab (Qualifications, Trainings or Examination Certificates) and select the record you want to remove. 

4. Click on the (delete.png) Remove button.  

5. A confirmation dialog window will appear, click Yes.
