Enable password protection for generated PDFs
To enable password protection for documents
- In BMC Helix Business Workflows, click Settings .
- Select Line of Business > Manage Line of Business.
- On the Application Configurations tab, click PDF_PASSWORD_POLICY.
- To set the password, define the Configuration Value.
The format of the parameter is <Person field1>,<FIRST/LAST>,<number of letters to choose>;<Person field Id2>,<FIRST/LAST>,<number of letters to choose>. The default value of the parameter is 1000000019,FIRST,4;1000000054,LAST,4. It is the first four letters of the first name, followed by the last four letters of the corporate ID. The person field IDs that are used in the parameter are fetched from the CTM:People form.
- Click Save.
Considerations for setting the password format
Consider the following points to modify the default password format and to set your custom password format:
- Any white spaces in the fields that you select for the password are ignored. The consecutive first or last four characters are considered for the password.
- The fields that are selected for the generation of the password must contain at least the number of characters that the user selected for generating the PDF. If the fields that you select for generating the password don't contain the required number of characters, the operation fails, and the PDF is not generated.
- If a mapped user is not a valid user or the required characters cannot be extracted from the specified fields, the PDF generation fails.
- We recommend that the password length should be of minimum 6 and maximum 32 characters.
