Checklists

A checklist, in BMC Helix Business Workflows is a list of checks or steps that must be completed for a case or task.  A checklist consists of a fixed set of items to be completed for an activity or process that can be reused every time that activity or process is to be completed.

A checklist standardizes the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for a case or task, which allows users to execute it in a simplistic way, with a view of all actions to be performed. Checklists ensure that important steps are not missed in a case or task.

Checklists provide the following benefits:

  • Provide a lightweight structure to direct and track case activities without using tasks.
  • Improves the efficiency of users to carry out complex tasks.
  • Reduces errors by listing down steps in a simple and consistent way, and allowing case agents to change the statuses of the checklist items and record the observations.
Example

Ajay, a case business analyst, creates a checklist for AC maintenance. He then adds the checklist to the case template.

Bill, a case agent, creates a case for AC maintenance by using the case template that Ajay created. The checklist is automatically added to the case that is created.
