Customizing views for lines of business

As a case business analyst, you can modify the look and feel of the UI by copying and modifying views for a line of business. Default views are provided in the content package for BMC Helix Business Workflows. For example, for the Procurement line of business, you can create a view that displays the bill details for procured items. Learn more about views in Creating-case-and-task-views-for-lines-of-business.

Before you begin

If you want to define custom views, you must use the extension container in BMC Helix Innovation Studio. Learn how to create a new view in Creating or modifying views.

Important

After you customize and activate a view for a line of business, and if you upgrade to a later version of BMC Helix Business Workflows, the customized view is not automatically updated if there are any out-of-the-box changes for the view. You must manually update the custom view for the out-of-the-box changes to be seen in the view.

What to do next

Review the copied views. If you observe any record definitions or artifacts that refer to the source line of business, change the reference to the target line of business.

Troubleshooting

Artifacts that are referred to in a copied view must have the scope as Public in the source line of business. If the scope of the artifact is Library in the source line of business, an error occurs when the view is copied.
