Configuring knowledge article approvals

A Knowledge Coach configures approvals for publishing, retiring, and canceling knowledge articles by creating an approval flow to define approvers or a chain of approvers. An approval flow includes the following items:

  • Status at which the approval is triggered
  • Approvers who can approve or reject the tasks

For example, a Knowledge Coach can create an approval workflow for knowledge articles about HR policies in which a group of HR approvers can approve or reject the knowledge articles.

Process for configuring a knowledge article approval

A Knowledge Coach completes the following tasks to configure an approval for a knowledge article:

Create approval processes for the following types of approval:

  • Self-approval—define the outcome of the approval.
  • Chain of approvals—define the flow group to which the process belongs and the next event that should occur after a knowledge article is approved, rejected, or errored out.
    Chaining is required when multiple approvers need to approve a task.
