Creating an options.txt file

When you run the installation program from the installation wizard, the installation program prompts you for the installation parameters. When you run the installation program in silent mode, you must provide these parameters in the options.txt file. You can create this file by copying a template and modifying the entries for your environment. When you run the installation program from the wizard, it creates an options.txt file that you can use at a later time when running the installation silently.

This topic provides the following sections:

Before you begin

Run the Maintenance Tool to encrypt passwords for the AR System server administrator and the Case Master. For details, see Encrypting-passwords-for-silent-installations.

To create an options file from a template

  1. In the utility folder, locate the HRCM-ini-template.txt file.
  2. Copy and paste the options from that file into an options.txt file for the installation that you want to run.
  3. Using the worksheets in Installation-worksheets and the following table as guides, edit the options accordingly, ensuring that you include the appropriate -P, -J, or -A option:

The [confluence_table-plus] macro is a standalone macro and it cannot be used inline.
As you edit the options.txt file, apply the following guidelines:

    • Remove the comment (#) markers.
    • To use an encrypted password, use:
      -J BMC_REMOTE_AR_PASSWORD=<encrypted password>
      -J BMC_AR_PASSWORD=<encrypted password>
      -J BMCHRCASEMANAGEMENT_COMPANY_PASSWORD=<encrypted password>.
    • In Linux environments, ensure that no CTRL-M characters are available in the options.txt file.
  4. Save the file.

  1. Copy the contents of the sample file into a new file.
  2. Using the Installation-worksheets, update the properties in the new file.
  3. Save the file.
