Enabling the Refresh Servlet feature


The Refresh Servlet feature enables you to make changes in the Self Service Portal Configuration tool and apply those changes without restarting Apache Tomcat. By default, the Refresh Servlets feature is not configured.

To configure the Refresh Servlet feature

  1. Open the Virtual Chat Administration Console.
  2. Select Self Service Portal > Configuration.
  3. In the Registered Servlets section, click Add.
     The Self Service Servlet Registration window appears.

  4. Enter the following information:
    • Servlet: Type a descriptive name for the servlet (for example, Local Servlet).
    • Status: Set the status to Enabled.
    • Action: Set the action to Refresh.
    • Refresh URL: Specify the URL to refresh. Include the /eschat/configrefresh? setting at the end of the URL. For example:
      http://12.345.6.78:8080/eschat/configrefresh?

      Note

      Leave the Refresh Response field blank and set the action to None. These fields are used by the workflow to trigger the refresh and report back the status.

  5. Click Save to save the Refresh Servlet definition.
  6. To refresh setting changes without restarting Apache Tomcat, click Refresh Servlets on the Self Service Portal Configuration pane.
     The new refresh time appears in the table.
  7. To confirm the successful servlet refresh, double-click the servlet name in the Registered Servlets table.
     The validation form appears and shows the status request value as success.
