Adding agents for BMC Helix AIOps


Agents in BMC HelixGPTare intelligent, generative AI entities that can automate tasks, resolve queries, and streamline workflows.

Adding agents enables BMC HelixGPT administrators to tailor their functionality to meet specific business needs. You can add out-of-the-box agents, customize them, or create new ones to integrate seamlessly with your environment, enhancing efficiency and user experience.

Important

You can use the out-of-the-box Pass-through agents only when:

  • You have subscribed for BMC Helix AIOps. For more information, see BMC Helix AIOps and Observability service in BMC Helix Subscriber information documentation.

  • Your organization has enabled the out-of-the-box Pass-through agents capability.


Data sources for agents

The following table describes the data source required for the connection name you must add for out-of-the-box agents.

To add an out-of-the-box agent

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio.
  2. Click the Application launcher 25_1_Application_Launcher.pngand select HelixGPT Manager.
  3. In HelixGPT Manager, click Settings Settings icon.
  4. Select HelixGPT > Agents> Pass-through Agents.
    The screen to add an out-of-the-box agent is displayed:

  5. Click Add Agent.
    A list with options to select the out-of-the-box agent is displayed:

  6. Select one of the following options and click Add.
    1. Best Action Recommendation:
    2. Change Risk Advisor
    3. Log Insights

The out-of-the-box agent is added to your environment.


To edit the connection for Best Action Recommendation 

Use Best Action Recommendation to get data-driven suggestions to efficiently resolve issues.

  1. In HelixGPT Manager, click Settings.
  2. Select HelixGPT > Agents > Pass-through Agents.
  3. Click Best Action Recommendation.
    The Edit Pass-through Agent dialog box is displayed, as shown in the following screenshot:

  4. Select the Connection name from the following options:
    • Both Helix ITSM Connection and Jira.
      You cannot select only Helix ITSM Connection or only Jira. Both options must be selected together.
    • Only the ServiceNow connection.

  5. Click Edit configuration.
    The following table describes the configuration details:

    Configuration

    Description

    Helix ITSM Connection + Jira

    No configuration is required for Jira. Enter dummy values in the given fields.

    Child connection

    Select Jira.

    ITSM: Mapping field

    Map to the BMC Helix ITSM field where the Jira reference is stored on the Incident form.

    Jira: Mapping field

    Map to the Jira field reference that is stored in the Incident form.

    Jira: Closed Notes field

    Map the field ID of the field that stores the Jira resolution notes.

    ServiceNow

    Event Unique Identifier

    Map to the field name where you store the Event ID required for mapping.

  6. Click Save.

You have edited the connection details for Best Action Recommendation.


To edit the connection for the Change Risk Advisor agent

Use Change Risk Advisor to assess potential risks of changes for informed decision-making.

  1. In HelixGPT Manager, click Settings.
  2. Select HelixGPT > Agents > Pass-through Agents.
  3. Click Change Risk Advisor.
    The Edit Pass-through Agent dialog box is displayed, as shown in the following screenshot:

  4. Select the Helix ITSM Connection and click Save.

You have edited the connection details for Change Risk Advisor.


To edit the connection for the Log insights agent

Use Log insights to analyze log data for patterns, anomalies, and root cause identification.

  1. In HelixGPT Manager, click Settings.
  2. Select HelixGPT > Agents > Pass-through Agents.
  3. Click Log Insights.
    The Edit Pass-through Agent dialog box is displayed, as shown in the following screenshot:

  4. Select the connection name and click Edit configuration.
    The following table describes the configuration details:

    Configuration

    Description

    ES

    Index name

    Identify the index name that contains the logs required for generating the Log Insight summary. You can specify the index name directly or use a regex format.  

    Example: filebeat-8.15.1-%Y.%m.%d

    Make sure the specified index or regex matches the desired log indices.

    Host

    Identify the field in the logs that stores the host name or server name information. Specify the field name directly in the configuration.

    Make sure the field name accurately corresponds to the log data containing the host name or server name.

    Timestamp

    Identify the field in the logs that stores the timestamp of each log message. Specify the field name in the configuration.

    Message

    Identify the field in the logs that contains the actual log message. Specify the field name in the configuration.


    Splunk

    Web Interface Url

    Specify the Splunk Web Interface URL used for cross-launching from Log Insights.

  5. Click Save.
