Task 6: Migrating the service entitlements and verifying their migration status


After publishing the services, you can migrate their entitlements and verify the migration status. This step is the final step in the process of migrating services from BMC Service Request Management to BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog

Verification of the entitlements

You can verify the migration status of entitlements in the SRD Migration manager as well as in BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog.

After migration, the fields in People Entitlement Definition (PED) of the entitlement are mapped to the fields in Virtual Marketplace as shown in the following table:

Important: This field stores the advanced qualification rules used to determine the users who are entitled to service.
This qualification rule is compared against the CTM:People form to get the list of users.

Important

Entitlements that have an advanced qualification rule with more than 20 qualifying users are partially migrated. The Virtual Marketplace is created, and services are associated with it, but the users are not migrated. You must redefine the qualification after migration. 


To migrate the entitlements

  1. Open the SRD Migration utility manager. 
  2. To migrate entitlements, on the Entitlements tab, select the checkbox next to each entitlement. 
  3. Click Migrate

After the entitlements are migrated, they are converted to virtual marketplaces in BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog


To verify the migrated entitlements from the SRD Migration manager

  1. Open the SRD Migration manager. 
  2. To verify the migration, click the Entitlements tab.
  3. View the migration status in the Status column.
    The following table describes the entitlement migration statuses: 

    Status

    Description

    Completed

    Entitlements are successfully migrated.

    Not migrated

    Entitlements are not migrated.

    Failed

    Entitlements failed to migrate.

  4. To open the migrated entitlements in BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog, select the action image-2024-5-22_11-55-36.png menu and then click View VM in Catalog


To verify the migrated entitlements in BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog

  1. As an administrator, log in to BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog
  2. Select Services Entitlements
  3. To verify a migrated entitlement, from the action image-2024-5-22_11-55-36.pngmenu, click Open on the virtual marketplace, as shown in the following image:

You have completed the process of migrating services. You can mark the SRDs offline in BMC Service Request Management and request the services to verify that they are fulfilled as expected.
