Customizing the labels in BMC Helix Digital Workplace

As an administrator, you can customize the labels for appointments, catalog sections, global search, My Activity, and My Stuff.

For example, you can change the title of the Contact IT button to Contact support. You can also customize application labels for specific locales. Label customization helps accommodate the application to specific regions and provides a location-wise user experience.

Scenario

Scenario of customizing labels

Allen is an administrator of BMC Helix Digital Workplace at Apex Global in France. He is customizing the user interface for BMC Helix Digital Workplace to suit the company's French audience.

Allen wants to display localized labels for the My Stuff and Catalog pages. He logs in to the Admin console and navigates to Configuration> Label Customizations

Allen enters his preferred localized text in the appropriate fields and saves the configuration. After he saves the configuration in the Admin console, the users who log in to their end-user console can see these custom localized labels.

Britney, an end user, has selected a French browser locale. Therefore, when she logs in to the end-user console, she sees a custom localized label for the My Stuff page: Mes affairs.

    Important

Configure the value for the set of labels for the default locale, English (US), first, and then configure custom localized labels for the other desired supported locales. If your browser uses a locale that BMC Helix Digital Workplace does not support, the labels set for English (US) are displayed.

  4. Expand the intended section and enter the custom text in the corresponding fields to change the default labels.
If you do not enter any custom text, the default labels are displayed to end users.
