Customizing the labels in BMC Helix Digital Workplace
Scenario
Before you begin
For the list of the supported languages and locales in BMC Helix Digital Workplace, see Supported-languages-and-locales.
(Version 23.3.03 and later) To customize application labels
- Log in to the Admin console.
- Select Configuration > Label Customizations.
On the Label Customizations page, select the locale for which you want to change the default text.
Expand the intended section and enter the custom text in the corresponding fields to change the default labels.
If you do not enter any custom text, the default labels are displayed to end users.

(Optional) Customize the text to be displayed in the global search field.
You can add variables, and end users will see the variable values. You can add more than one variable. Add your variables within curly braces. Use the following variables based on your choice:
{first name}, {last name}, {full name}, and {user id}
For example, enter the text in the field Default search field hint: Hello {first name}, what are you looking for?
The end user, Bob, sees the search hint text: Hello Bob, what are you looking for?(Optional) To revert from custom text back to the default placeholder text, click Reset for the required field.
The following dialog box displays the reset options:
Click one of the following options:- Cancel—Cancels the operation.
- Reset English(US) only—The field restores the default value only for the selected locale.
- Reset all languages—The field restores the default values for all the translations for the configured locales.
- (Optional) If you want to restore the default values for all fields displayed on the page for the selected locale, click Reset all to default.
This option resets all the fields only for the selected locale and displays default placeholder values. - Click Save and close the window.
The changes are applied to the end-user console only after you save the configuration.

For versions 23.3.02 and earlier, see the following procedures to customize application labels:
(Version 23.3.02 and earlier) To change the appointment description
- Log in to the Admin console.
- Select Configuration > Label Customizations.
- Click the Appointments tab.
- In the Description/Instructions locale field, select the locale for which you want to change the default text.
- In the Description/Instructions field, enter the instructions for your users.
- Click Save.
Following is an example of updated instructions in the Description field:
(Version 23.3.02 and earlier) To change a catalog section label
- Log in to the Admin console.
- Select Configuration > Label Customizations.
- Click the Catalog tab.
- From the Select locale list, select the locale for which you want to change the labels.
- If you have a
BMC Helix Digital Workplace Advanced license, to change the Appointment label, enter a new name in the Appointment field.
- To change the Contact IT label, enter a new name in the Contact IT button field.
- To change the Browse Categories label, enter a new name in the Category name field.
- Click Save.
Following is an example of the customized Appointment label:
(Version 23.3.02 and earlier) To change the global search labels
- Log in to the Admin console.
- Select Configuration > Label Customizations.
- Click the Global search tab.
- From the Select locale list, select the locale for which you want to apply the changes.
To change the default text displayed for the global search, in the Placeholder field, enter new text.
- To change the names of the global search filters, in the Results filter tabs section, enter new values for the following fields:
- Filter name for Catalog items
- Filter name for Knowledge articles
- Click Save.
Following is an example of the customized text in the global search field:
(Version 23.3.02 and earlier) To change the My Activity section labels
- Log in to the Admin console.
- Select Configuration > Label Customizations.
- Click the My Activity tab.
- From the Select locale list, select the locale for which you want to change the labels.
- To change the My Activity label, enter a new name in the My Activity Tab Name field.
- To change the Active events label, enter a new name in the Active events field.
- To change the Past events label, enter a new name in the Past events field.
- To change the Filtered active events label, enter a new name in the Filtered active events field.
- To change the Filtered past events label, enter a new name in the Filtered past events field.
- Click Save.
Following is an example of a customized My Activity label:
(Version 23.3.02 and earlier) To change the label of the My Stuff tab
This option only applies to aBMC Helix Digital Workplace Advanced license.
- Log in to the Admin console.
- Select Configuration > Label Customizations.
- Click the My Stuff tab.
- From the My Stuff Tab Name locale field, select the locale for which you want to change the label.
- In the My Stuff Tab Name field, enter a new name.
- Click Save.
