Controlling the visibility of the My Activity page

As an administrator, you can control the visibility of the My Activity page. My Activity is a core application page provided by BMC Helix Digital Workplace and is present in the navigation menu by default. To customize end-users' navigation experience, you can hide the page from the navigation menu.

You can also assign a post-request redirect page instead of the My activity page. For more information, see To set up the post-request redirect page.

Scenario: Hiding the My Activity page

Allen is an administrator at Apex Global. He creates a custom designed redirect page named My Apex Interface in Studio. All the users in the organization are entitled to this page. This page is designed based on Apex Global's style of operation for service requests, where users can see the output of their service request.

Allen hides the default My Activity page and replaces it with the studio page, My Apex Interface. He can set rules to determine which set of users will see which landing page. He assigns the page to all the users by configuring the rules for page entitlements. Now, after making a request, all users arrive on this page rather than the My Activity page.

To hide the My Activity page

  1. Log in to the Admin console.
  2. Select Configuration > Navigation Manager.
  3. On the Navigation Builder tab, in the Available pages section, under Core Application Pages, clear the selected check box for the My Activity.

The following confirmation message is displayed:

My Activity Warning message

  1. Click Hide My Activity.
  2. Click Save.
The navigation menu won't show the My Activity page.

Important

  • As an administrator, if you have removed the My Activity page from the navigation menu, end users can still access it by using the link added in the user profile menu. The redirect link will be available for the user in the user profile menu, if both of the following conditions are true:
    • You have removed the My Activity page from the navigation menu.
    • You have defined no other customized landing pages as alternatives for the logged-in user.

See the end-user console with the link added to the menu.

  • If you remove the My Activity page from the navigation menu and also assign customized landing pages for users, all users will not see the My Activity page link in the user profile menu.
