Administering an external BMC Helix Digital Workplace portal

A BMC Helix Digital Workplace administrator must create an external portal and perform initial administration activities to prepare it for an external administrator. A BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog administrator must add services to an external portal by using a virtual marketplace in BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog. An external administrator can then do any additional configurations as required, deploy the portal for external users, and manage registered external users.

The view of the BMC Helix Digital Workplace Admin console is different for internal and external administrators, and is adjusted based on the level of permissions. The following rules apply to the Admin console view:

  • A BMC Helix Digital Workplace administrator with the MyIT Super Admin permissions can create an external portal, and then view and manage the Company Setup tab.
  • An external administrator with the MyIT Admin permissions who belongs to an external company can view and manage the Settings and User Management tabs and can enable or disable features for external users.

We recommend that you review the data privacy regulations that apply to your end users, and leverage the privacy notice feature to share the required details.

You cannot enable this feature if you have a BMC Helix Digital Workplace deployment where the managed service provider (MSP) mode is enabled.
