Attaching a workflow to a service

As a catalog administrator, internal service supplier, or internal service supplier administrator, you must attach a workflow to a service before the service can be published to end users.

Before you begin

Create a service, or modify an existing service. For more information, see Adding-and-updating-services.

To attach a workflow to a service

You can add a new workflow to a service only after you add it to the Workflows Library

  1. In BMC Digital Workplace Catalog, select Services > Services, and open a service.
  2. On the Service Options pane, click Edit next to Workflow
  3. On the Workflow & Questions pane, click Add next to Workflow.

  4. In the Workflow Library, search for an existing workflow that you would like to attach to a service.
  5. Select a workflow, and then click Save.

    Important

You can filter the available workflows by workflow name, or by catalog name. If a workflow belongs to your subcatalog, you can edit the workflow as required. If a workflow does not belong to your subcatalog, you will not be able to edit it. You can only attach it to your service.

  1. Add new workflows to the Workflows library in one of the following ways:
    • By using the New Workflow action available in the Workflow Library, available from the Service Management page.

    Important

The Catalog list is available only to you if you are a service catalog administrator. You can assign a subcatalog for the workflow, so that administrators of the subcatalog will be able to modify it as required. If you do not select a subcatalog, the workflow will a part of the Master subcatalog, and other users will be able to associate this workflow with their services, but will not be able to modify it.

Where to go from here

To lean how to configure a simple workflow, see Designing-a-simple-workflow.

After you attach a workflow to the service, add a questionnaire to the service.
