Dell Compellent Enterprise Manager ETL for TrueSight Capacity Optimization

Metrics

The BYDISK_RPM metric was added to the SYSDSK dataset to expose the disk revolutions per minute.

Metrics

The BYPORT_CONTROLLER_NAME metric was added to the STOSSW dataset to expose the storage switch port controller name.

Metrics

The ST_CONFIGURED_VOLUME_CAPACITY metric was added to the STOGLB dataset to expose the capacity of all the volumes present in the Storage Pools and Storage Systems. Contrary to the subscribed capacity metric, which only considers mapped volumes, this metric is the sum of the Host Volume Visible Capacity of all the attached volumes.

Metrics

The computation methods were reviewed for the following metrics:

  • ST_CAPACITY: for the storage center, it corresponds to the storage space that is both used and available to create Disk Folders or Volumes; for disk folders, it corresponds to storage space that is both used and available to create volumes.
  • ST_AVAILABLE_FOR_STORAGE_POOLS: it exposes the capacity that is still available after creating the storage pools.
  • ST_SYSTEM_SUBSCRIBED_CAPACITY: it corresponds to the sum of the capacity of all mapped volumes.
  • ST_POOL_SUBSCRIBED_CAPACITY: it corresponds to the sum of the capacity of all the associated mapped volumes.

Host mapping

The iQN (iSCSI Qualified Name) is now handled for host mappings.

Error

Error messages displayed in the TrueSight CO console have been improved to distinguish connection issues from server failures.

Discovery/Collection

When a problem occurs during the discovery or the collection process:

  • An explicit message is now also displayed in the TrueSight CO console.
  • The service execution is now marked as 'error'.
  • Empty datasets are no longer loaded to avoid potential errors.

EMC SMI-S Agent ETL for TrueSight Capacity Optimization

Host mapping

The iQN (iSCSI Qualified Name) is now handled for host mappings.

Metrics

A new metric ST_CONFIGURED_VOLUME_CAPACITY was added to STOGLB dataset to expose the capacity of all the volumes present in the Storage Pools and Storage Systems. Contrary to the subscribed capacity metric, which only considers mapped volumes, this metric is the sum of the Host Volume Visible Capacity of all the attached volumes.

Metrics

The computation method for the Volume’s consumed capacity metric was changed to consider all the virtual provisioning pools associated to the volumes in case of external pools.

Error

Error messages displayed in the TrueSight CO console have been improved to distinguish connection issues from server failures.

Discovery/Collection

When a problem occurs during the discovery or the collection process:

  • An explicit message is now also displayed in the TrueSight CO console.
  • The service execution is now marked as 'error'.

Unsupported requests

CLARiiON/VNX or Symmetrix/VMAX unsupported requests are now ignored.

EMC XtremIO Management Server ETL for TrueSight Capacity Optimization

New ETL

This new ETL was developed for BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization v10.7 to collect capacity information about EMC XtremIO storage systems.

IBM SVC-Storwize ETL for TrueSight Capacity Optimization

Metrics

Contrary to the subscribed capacity metric, which only considers mapped volumes, this metric is the sum of the Host Volume Visible Capacity of all the attached volumes.

Metrics

The computation of the ST_SYSTEM_BANDWIDTH and ST_SYSTEM_BANDWIDTH_UTIL metrics has been improved and now only considers Front-End FC Ports to report more accurately on the available bandwidth in storage systems.

The computation of the BYLDISK_RESPONSE_TIME, BYLDISK_READ_RESPONSE_TIME and BYLDISK_WRITE_RESPONSE_TIME metrics has been reviewed to collect and report the raw value of I/O time counters.

NetApp Data ONTAP ETL for TrueSight Capacity Optimization

Metrics

The ST_SHARE_COMMITTED_SIZE metric is added to the STOGLB dataset to expose the maximum amount of space committed to NetApp volumes in the aggregate.

The ST_AGGREGATE_COMMITTED_CAPACITY metric is added to the STOGLB dataset to expose the total capacity committed to NetApp volumes in the aggregate. .

Storage Capacity Views and Reports for TrueSight Capacity Optimization

TrueSight Console

The Hosts and Storage Systems views are available in Presentation Server.

Column Sort

The Time Since Last Activity column can be sorted using relational operators ("equals", "greater than", "smaller than", etc.).

Metrics

The SEN_STORAGE_PORT datamart will compute the controller name when the information is not available through the BYPORT_CONTROLLER_NAME metric.

NetApp Capacity Views for TrueSight Capacity Optimization

TrueSight Console

The NetApp Systems view is available in Presentation Server.

Column Sort

The Time Since Last Activity column can be sorted using relational operators ("equals", "greater than", "smaller than", etc.).
