Managing assets


After an administrator has set up BMC Client Management and performed the mandatory administrative tasks in Track-It! as a technician, you can begin to manage assets.

Based on the permissions assigned for technicians, you can discover, audit, remotely control, view asset details, and retire assets.

The process table lists the tasks performed by a technician to manage assets.

View the detailed preview of the selected Asset in the Inventory Grid workspace or Asset page.

Create assets

Create assets in Track-It! (and check if the asset is synchronized in BMC Client Management).

Determine changes to inventory types by auditing assets

Audit now or view asset changes after every scheduled audit performed by BMC Client Management.

Associate an asset with a ticket or an assignment 

Linking assets to a ticket or to an assignment.

Associate an asset with another asset Linking assets to a parent or a child asset.To link or unlink assets

Manage an asset remotely to perform maintenance tasks

Apply SSL certificates.

Remotely control assets from the Asset Management dashboard.

Remotely control assets from the Asset Form.

Remotely control assets from the Ticket form or Assignment form.

(If authorized) Retire an asset

Retire an asset that is not required to be managed in future.
