Creating and managing license sources (2021 Release 02)

You can use license sources to define information about software licenses such as OEM, Vendor, or any other user-defined description.

To create a license source

  1. On the header bar, expand the hamburger menu HamburgerNew.png and select Configuration.
  2. Click Software Licenses and select License Sources.
  3. On the License Sources page, click New.
  4. In the New License Source dialog box, follow these steps:
    1. In the License Source field, enter the license source name.
    2. (Optional) Select the Default check box to mark this license source as the default.
  5. Click Save.
    The new license source is created. If the license source name already exists in the system, an error message is generated.
  6. To add more license sources, repeat steps 3, 4, and 5.

To edit a license source

  1. On the header bar, expand the hamburger menu HamburgerNew.png and select Configuration.
  2. Click Software Licenses and select License Sources.
  3. On the License Sources page, select the license source to be edited.
  4. Click Edit new1.png to edit the license source.
  5. In the License Source: (Selected License Source) dialog box, you can edit the following fields:
    1. In the License Source field, edit the license source name.
    2. Select or clear the Default check box to change the status of the license source.
  6. Click Save.
  7. The license source is edited. If the edited license source name already exists in the system, an error message is generated. The edited license source is updated in all the software licenses to which it is linked.

To view license sources

  1. On the header bar, expand the hamburger menu HamburgerNew.png and select Configuration.
  2. Click Software Licenses and select License Sources.
  3. All available license sources are displayed in a sortable list.

To delete license sources

  1. On the header bar, expand the hamburger menu HamburgerNew.png and select Configuration.
  2. Click Software Licenses and select License Sources.
  3. On the License Sources page, select the license source to be deleted.
  4. Click Trashbin new1.png to delete the license source.
  5. Click Yes. 
    The license source is deleted and the license source grid is refreshed.

Important

If the license source to be deleted is linked to an existing software license, the Replace Lookup dialog box is displayed with the following options:

  • Click Replace to delete the license source and replace it with the selected alternate license source in all linked software licenses.
  • Click Remove to delete the license source and remove it from all linked software licenses without replacing it with another.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
