Setting the external authentication
BMC Release Process Management (RPM) supports the following types of authentication:
- Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP and LDAPS)
- Active Directory (AD)
- Central Authentication Service (CAS)
After you choose an authentication method:
- LDAP(S), AD, or CAS users can log in to RPM by using their credentials of the appropriate authentication method.
- Root users can log in to RPM by using the RPM credentials.
- If the LDAP(S), AD, or CAS user exists in RPM, then after login, the user is taken to the Dashboard page of the application.
- If the LDAP(S), AD, or CAS user does not exist in RPM, then after login, the user must enter the first name, last name, and email address. The User role is assigned to this new user.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
