Setting the external authentication

BMC Release Process Management supports the following types of authentication:

Ensure that users who are authenticated through LDAP(S), AD, or CAS are not marked as a root users in BMC Release Process Management. Root users cannot access the BMC Release Process Management with their LDAP(S), AD, or CAS credentials.

After you choose an authentication method:

  • LDAP(S), AD, or CAS users can log on to BMC Release Process Management by using their LDAP(S), AD, or CAS credentials.
  • Root users can log on to BMC Release Process Management by using the BMC Release Process Management credentials.
  • If the LDAP(S), AD, or CAS user exists in BMC Release Process Management, then after logon, the user is taken to the Dashboard page of the application.
  • If the LDAP(S), AD, or CAS user does not exist in BMC Release Process Management, then after logon, the user must enter first name, last name, and email address. The User role is assigned to this new user.
