Navigating the interface


When you log on to BMC Release Process Management, the Dashboard opens. It displays the logged in successfully message at the top of the page for about 10 seconds.

The Dashboard information is grouped into the following tabs:

  • My Applications  lists the applications accessible for you based on your user and group settings. Use the Create Application button below the list of applications to create a new application.
  • My Environments lists the environments created by you or associated with your applications, with information about applications, the release, and recent activity, which means the steps that you or your team have used recently for each environment.
  • My Servers lists the active servers created by a you or associated with your environments and applications, with information about environments, applications, and the recent activity on each server.
  • My Requests lists the requests with general information for each request:

    To see a particular request in the Dashboard, you must be assigned to the specific application and environment, and you must either be the requester for the request or must be assigned to a step in the request. If you have the User role, you can see only requests with the Planned status.

    By default, you see requests with activity for the past three months only. When searching, filtering, or viewing Inbound and Outbound requests, the three-month limitation does not apply. Instead, you see all requests that satisfy the search or filter criteria.

    • Status displays the current status of the request.
    • Id displays the unique identifier for the request.
    • RP/P displays if the request is assigned to a project, to a release plan, to both project and release plan, or if the request is not assigned.
    • Name displays the name of the request.
    • App displays the name of the application associated with the request.
    • Env displays the name of the the environment that the request is assigned to.
    • DW displays the deployment window assigned to the request.
    • Scheduled displays date and time when the request is scheduled to.
    • Duration displays the duration of all steps of the request.
    • Due displays date and time when the request is due to.
    • Steps displays the total number of steps in the request.
    • Created displays the date and time when the request was created.
    • Participants displays a list of users and groups assigned to steps for the request.
    • Project displays the name of the project that the request is assigned to.
    • Package Contents displays the package contents metadata assigned to the request.
    • Team displays the name of the team that is assigned to the application associated with the request.
    • Started displays date and time when the request started.
  • Calendar provides a calendar grid view of all the requests which have Scheduled and Due parameters set in a calendar grid.
  • Promotions lists the promotion requests with general information for each request.
  • Currently Running Steps lists the steps of your requests which have Ready, In Progress, or Problem status.

On the right pane:

  • Create Request is a link for creating a new request.
  • Recent Page Links lists the recent 10 pages of BMC Release Process Management that you visited since the last logon.
  • Users Online lists the users currently logged in to the BMC Release Process Management.

You can configure the Dashboard by using the Profile tab, located at the top right-hand side of your screen.
