Upgrading

This section provides information about upgrading and migrating the BMC Release Process Management product in the following scenarios:

Notes

  • BMC Release Process Management is not verified with multiple Ruby or JRuby versions running on the same server. To avoid side effects, BMC recommends that you uninstall Ruby versions or choose a server that has no earlier Ruby version installed.
  • JRuby does not support native gems. BMC recommends that you test all automation scripts to confirm whether they work on version 2.5. You must change custom scripts that use native gems to use equivalent supported gems.
  • Custom scripts that rely on additional gems require special care. Such gems must be installed in a JRuby instance specific to BMC Release Process Management.
  • Custom scripts run in multithreaded mode instead of multiprocess mode. BMC recommends that you verify each custom script for thread-safe updates to the central data structure.
