Mapping properties
You require to map properties so that the same values that you have put in properties move into the elements that work with those properties. For example, when you put values such as classpath in properties, you map the same value to each request working with those components in those environments.
Property mapping is of two types:
- Mapping a property against a parameter using application mapping option
- Mapping a property against a parameter using infrastructure mapping option
Mapping a property against a parameter using application mapping option
- Create a property.
- Assign a value to a property.
- Associate a single or multiple components to a property.
- Go to Environment > Automation.
- Ensure that your have all the scripts for which you want to create a property mapping by using the Import scripts from Library link or by creating your own new script by clicking the Create Automation tab and saving it.
- Click your required script to open the scripts panel.
Click the map link.
- In the dialog box that opens, select the radio button for Application mapping.
- Under Select the Mapped elements, from the various fields, select the required application, associated environments, components, and properties.
- Click Save.
When you use the mapped script in a particular step, the property value is automatically assigned in the step.
Mapping a property against a parameter using infrastructure mapping option
- Create a property.
- Assign a value and associate it to a server.
- Go to Environment > Automation.
- Ensure that your have all the scripts for which you want to create a property mapping by using the Import scripts from Library link or by creating your own new script by clicking the Create Automation tab and saving it.
- Click your required script to open the scripts panel.
Click map.
- In the dialog box that opens, select the Infrastructure mapping radio button.
- Under the Select the Mapped Elements, select the required entity type, associate server or servers, and the property.
- Click Save.
When you use the mapped script in a particular step, the property value get automatically assigned in the step.
