Problem Trend Report

Problem Trend Report displays a stacked area chart that represents the aggregate number of requests in the problem, hold, or canceled state for a specified period. This report provides work-task-wise, team-wise, and component-wise trends of requests that did not finish successfully. When you select any filter, this report is generated automatically for the requests created for all the applications that you are managing and for all the users in the database.

  • The X-axis shows the months for which data is being represented in the chart.
  • The Y-axis shows the number of requests in the problem, hold, and canceled states.

You can point to the colored circles to view the users and the duration represented. Click a circle to view a table of all the requests in the problem, hold, or canceled state at the bottom of the chart for that particular user. Click the legend items to filter in or filter out data for that particular user. You can export the details displayed in the table to a .csv file.

You can save the chart as .png.jpg, and .pdf file.

The following figure shows a sample Problem Trend report with a detail table of requests in the hold state and the save options:

Note

This report presents information for only those requests that have entered the problem, hold or cancelled state. The information provided in the report may vary according to your user role. For example, as an administrator user you can see information about all the applications that you are managing. On the other hand, if you are not an administrator user, then you will be able to view information about only those applications that are assigned to you or for which you have the necessary permissions.

You can also set in-depth data filters to view this information according to the different applications, components, environments, request status, processes, work tasks, and so on.

To generate Problem Trend Report

You must select any filter to generate the report.

  1. On the Reports menu, click Process.
  2. Click Problem Trend Report on the right side of your screen.
    By default, you see a chart that shows you all the requests in the problem, hold, or cancelled state for all the users in the database.
  3. Click Open Filters to specify a reporting time period and set various filters.

    The following table lists all the filter options that you can use to customize your report.

    Filter by Date

    Set the date range by using the date-picker available with the From and To options and then click Set.

    You can view data only up to the number of days in the past that is set in the Allowed Range field on the General page. By default, the To field is populated with the current date and the From field is populated with the current date minus the value you enter in the Allowed Range field. If this field is set to 0, there is no restriction on the number of days for which you can view data.

    Application

    Under Application, click the add link, to choose from a list of applications that you are managing and then click the done link.

    To modify the number of applications that you selected, click the edit link under Application, and then click the done link.

    Environment

    Under Environment, click the add link, to choose from a list of environments that are being used by the various applications, and then click the done link.

    To modify the number of environments that you selected, click the edit link under Environment, and then click the done link.

    Component

    Click the add link, choose from a list of components in use by the applications, and then click done.

    To modify your component selection, click the edit link, make your changes, and then click done.

    Processes

    Click the add link, to choose from a list of processes that you might have created and then click the done link.

    To modify the number of processes that you selected, click the edit link under Processes, and then click the done link.

    Work Task

    Click the add link, choose from a list of work tasks assigned to requests during creation, and then click done.

    To modify your work task selection, click the edit link, make your changes, and then click done.

    Part of Users

    Click the add link, choose from a list of users, and then click done.

    To modify your selection, click the edit link, make your changes, and then click done.

    Part of Groups

    Click the add link, choose from a list of groups, and then click done.

    To modify your selection, click the edit link, make your changes, and then click done.

    Group ON

    Create multiple filters at the same time, filtering data either by component, work task, or user (Part Of option). You can use this filter with existing filters.

    Precision

    Specify the frequency of the data to view by selecting Week or Month, and then click Filter.

  4. Click Clear Filter to clear all the filters that you set.
  5. Click Close Filter to collapse the filter panel.

You can click on the colored circles shown in the chart, to see a table showing all the requests in the problem, hold, or cancelled state for that user. This table is generated at the bottom of the chart. If you click on one of the rows in the table, you are re-directed to the Requests tab where you see details of that request. You can export this table to a .csv file and save it by clicking the Export to csv link at the top of the table.

You can also print the chart or save it in various formats by right-clicking on the chart and selecting one of the following options as appropriate:

  • Print Chart: Click this to print the chart.
  • Save as JPEG Image: Click this and then click Save at the bottom of the chart to save the chart as a .jpg file.
  • Save as PNG Image: Click this and then click Save at the bottom of the chart to save the chart as a .png file.
  • Save as PDF: Click this and then click Save at the bottom of the chart to save the chart as a .pdf file.

Note

When you save the chart, the saved image in certain cases might show the chart partially. This might happen if your chart shows a lot of data due to which a scroll bar appears at the bottom of the chart. To save the whole chart, you might need to adjust your screen resolution or reduce the amount of data being captured on the chart.
