Navigating the interface


BMC Release Process Management (BRPM) consists of two user interfaces:

  • Some content is unavailable due to permissions.


  • RPM Classic UI

When you log in to the

, the Releases tab opens.

On the Releases tab, you can view a list of all releases, their details, or create a new release if you have appropriate  permissions  granted.

RPM Classic UI

When you log in to the RPM Classic UI, the Dashboard page opens.

Dashboard information is grouped into the following tabs:

  • My Applications lists the applications accessible for you based on your user and group settings. To create a new application, click Create Application below the list of applications.
  • My Environments lists the environments created by you or associated with your applications, with information about applications, the release, and recent activity, which means the steps that you or your team have used recently for each environment.
  • My Servers lists the active servers created by you or associated with your environments and applications, with information about environments, applications, and the recent activity on each server.
  • My Requests lists the requests with general information for each request:

    To see a particular request on the Dashboard page, you must be assigned to the specific application and environment, and you must be either the requestor for the request or assigned to a step in the request. If you have the User role, you can see only requests with the Planned status.

    • Status displays the current status of the request.
    • ID displays the unique identifier for the request.
    • Name displays the name of the request.
    • Owner displays a user that has been assigned on-going responsibilities for requests.
    • Release displays a specific software version (application) or a project that is applied to a request.
    • RP/P displays if the request is assigned to a project, to a release plan, to both project and release plan, or if the request is not assigned.
    • App displays the name of the application associated with the request.
    • Env displays the name of the environment to which the request is assigned.
    • DW displays the deployment window assigned to the request.
    • Scheduled displays date and time when the request is scheduled.
    • Duration displays the duration of all steps of the request.
    • Due displays date and time when the request is due.
    • Steps displays the total number of steps in the request.
    • Created displays the date and time when the request is created.
    • Participants displays a list of users and groups assigned to steps for the request.
  • Calendar provides a calendar grid view of all requests that have Scheduled and Due parameters set in a calendar grid.
  • Promotions lists the promotion requests with general information for each request.
  • Currently Running Steps lists the steps of your requests, which have the Ready, In Progress, or Problem status.
  • Scheduled steps lists the steps that have the Scheduled or Problem states.

On the right pane:

  • Create Request creates a new request.
  • Recent Page Links lists the recent 10 pages of BRPM that you visited since the last login.
  • Users Online lists the users currently logged in to BRPM.

You can configure the Dashboard by using the Profile tab, located at the top right-hand side of your screen.
