Mapping components with component templates

This product enables you to map your application's components with a component template in BMC Application Automation, which is useful when you are using an automation script while adding a step. You can use this feature for determining the target components on which you want to run the Deploy Job while using an automation script in a step. This means when you use an automation script available for BMC Application Automation to perform a certain function and you specify target_mode to be MappedBaaComponents, a hierarchy of components related to the mapped component template is automatically displayed in the hierarchy of targets in the step. You can select one or more of the components available in the hierarchy of targets on which you want to run the Deploy Job. But the mapped components are available only if you select a component that is already mapped when you add the step. Also, you can map only a single component with a single component template by using a single integration server.

To map a component with a component template

1. Click the Applications tab and edit one of the applications available in the list.
   A list of components associated with that application is displayed.
2. Click the Map link next to the component that you want to map (under the Actions column). 
3. On the Map Component to an External Object dialog box, provide the following details:
   1. From the list available for Select Target Server, select the integration server that you created for integration with BMC Application Automation and to which you want to connect for performing this mapping.

   2. From the list available for selecting a Data Retriever, select Baa application component mapping.
      This list is available only after you select an integration server. The Baa application component mapping Data Retriever script is used for actually mapping the component with a component template.

      Note

      Ensure that you have already imported the Baa application component mapping Data Retriever script by navigating to Environment > Automation and then clicking the Import scripts from Library link at the right side of your screen.

4. Expand the automatically generated hierarchy of component templates that appears, and select one of them.
5. Click Save Mapping to save your changes.

To modify or delete an existing mapping

1. Click the Edit Map link next to the component under the Actions column.
2. On the Map Component to an External Object dialog box, select the integration server for which you want to change or delete the mapping in the Select Target Server list, and select Baa application component mapping from the Data Retriever selection list.
   The current mapping is displayed.
3. To modify the mapping, expand the hierarchy of component templates, make your changes, and click Save Mapping.
4. To delete the mapping, click Delete Mapping, and then click OK.
