BMC Release Process Management

Item

Summary

BMC Release Lifecycle Management Requester UI

Starting with the 5.0 version, BMC Release Process Management (RPM) includes two user interfaces: BMC Release Lifecycle Management (RLM) Requester UI and RPM Classic UI.

RLM Requester UI is a newly implemented part of the RPM product that introduces a new releases object. A release is conceptualized as a simplified plan in which various artifacts like plan stages, route gates, runs, and requests are created automatically. It provides a way to execute a staged application release per request basis. You can promote a request through the stages, thus, performing all activities required during the release process. In addition, you experience a new look and feel of the application. For more information about the RLM Requester UI, see the following pages:

Autoincrement for release version tags

In the RPM Classic UI, you can create release tag templates which you can later use for versioning the releases in the RLM Requester UI. After you define a template of the release version tag for a specific application, the version tags will be automatically generated on each newly created release of the application. For more information about the release tag templates, see To set up release tag templates and Managing-releases.

REST API version 2

REST API version 2 is introduced for the RLM Requester UI in RPM. You can use it to create releases, create and deploy requests through the stages of the release, and retrieve data about the release constituents. For more information, see REST-API-version-2.

RLM deploy package instance by component version

RLM deploy package instance by component version script provides an opportunity to unify and automate the whole process of application deployment. When a specific instance of a build is generated in BMC Release Package and Deployment, this instance, which corresponds to a component version in RPM, is deployed through the stages in RLM Requester UI. For more information about the script, see RLM-deploy-package-instance-by-component-version.

BMC Release Package and Deployment

Item

Summary

Integrates Jenkins with RPD by adding two build and post-build actions to your Jenkins build configuration, which can be executed separately or combined sequentially:

  • Create an instance
  • Deploy an instance

For more information, see https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/RPD+Plugin.

Enables you to create a version tag in RPM for the specified component and in the defined environment that is used for the defined application.

Performance improvement

Improves the performance for creating instances and deploying RPD. For more information about how to apply the updates, see After the upgrade.

Enables you to specify the level of the logs details for engines in RPD.

Adds the following support to RPD 5.0:

  • Microsoft Edge web browser
  • Red Hat Linux 7.0 x86-64 OS
