Uninstalling

To uninstall the BMC Release Lifecycle Management solution, you can use a direct uninstallation through an interactive wizard or a silent (unattended) uninstallation, as described in the following procedures.

Notes

  • The uninstallation program might not delete some of the solution files or folders from your computer. After uninstalling the solution, you must navigate to the UninstallBMCBRLM directory and manually delete any remaining files.
  • The uninstallation program does not remove any databases or tables that you created independently for use with the solution. You must remove those manually.

To uninstall directly

  1. Log in as Administrator or root only if you installed the product with administrator or root privileges.
  2. Set the JAVA_HOME and the BRLM_HOME environment variables:
    1. Set the JAVA_HOME variable to point to a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) other than the one that already exists in the RLM directory in your installed location. Alternatively, you can copy the JRE executable from the RLMhome/lib/jre directory and paste it in an appropriate location outside the RLM directory to be able to run the uninstaller. Delete the executable after the uninstallation is complete.
    2. You can use the following commands to set the BRLM_HOME variable:
      • (Windows) set "BRLM_HOME=<RLMhome>"
        Example: set “BRLM_HOME=C:/Program Files/BMC Software/RLM”
      • (Linux) export BRLM_HOME=<RLMhome>
        Example: export BRLM_HOME=/opt/bmc/RLM
  3. Go to RLMhome/UninstallBMCBRLM and run the following command:
    • (Windows) uninstall.cmd
    • (Linux) uninstall.sh

      Note

During the uninstallation of BMC Release Lifecycle Management, the following message might appear: The batch file cannot be found. Ignore this message.

To perform a silent uninstallation

  1. Ensure that you have administrator (for Windows) or superuser (for Linux) privileges only if you installed the product with administrator or superuser privileges.
  2. Set the BRLM_HOME and the JAVA_HOME environment variables:
      • (Linux) export BRLM_HOME=<RLM>
        Example: export BRLM_HOME=/opt/bmc/RLM
  3. Locate the options file that you created during the installation process, or create a similar file.
For more information about the options file, see Silent-installation.
  4. In the options file, change all -A switches (used for installation) to -U switches (for the uninstallation).
  5. Run the following command from any directory outside the installation folders:
    <fullPathToUninstallFile> -i silent -DOPTIONS_FILE=<fullPathToOptionsFile>
The path to the Uninstall file points to the UninstallBMCBRLM directory within the installation folders.

To uninstall a dispatcher that was installed separately

If you installed another BMC Release Package and Deployment dispatcher on another computer without using the suite installation wizard (see Installing-and-starting-dispatchers-and-bridges), you must delete that dispatcher manually:

  • Windows: installationDirectory\lib\dispatch\dispatch_uninstall.exe
  • For other operating systems, use the appropriate tools. For example, on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, use the BMC Release Process Management package manager to uninstall the dispatcher.
